Hospital Acquired Infections

Examples

Steps to generate a data set. Formats for viewing a generated data set.

Steps 1 – 3 allow you to choose the type of output, reporting period and type of data you’re interested in exploring. You can view a facility’s surgical site infection (SSI) and/or central line associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) standardized infection ratio (SIR). You can also view individual hospital profiles which display infection rates as well as SIRs. Reporting periods can be viewed separately or together, allowing for the comparison of infection rates and SIRs over time.

step 1 to 3

Steps 4 & 5 allow you to select the specific hospital(s) that you wish to view. You can filter hospitals by region and/or hospital size to simplify your query. If you wish to view multiple hospitals either in the same region and/or hospital size, simply hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on the facilities.

step 4 and 5

In step 6, you will select the type of procedure (if you wish to see SSI data) and/or the location (if you wish to see CLABSI data). You can view the SSI data and CLABSI data for a particular hospital(s) if you selected both options in step 3. You can select data for multiple procedures and/or locations if you hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on the procedures and/or locations you wish to see.

step 6

Step 7 allows you to select the type of output format you would like to see the data displayed. To view data in multiple output formats, simply select multiple output format options.

step 7

Example 1 – Individual Hospital Profile Table

Individual hospital profiles display a facility’s rates of surgical site infections (by risk category) and central line associated bloodstream infections. Individual hospital profiles can be viewed for all available reporting periods. Data can be exported into an excel spreadsheet by clicking on the excel icon in the top right corner of the individual hospital profile.

example 1

Example 2 – The table(s) below displays a single facility’s surgical site infection (SSI) data. Procedural (abdominal hysterectomy) data is displayed for three reporting periods. Data can be exported into an excel spreadsheet by clicking on the excel icon in the top left corner of the table.

example 2

Example 3a – The trend line of a single facility’s abdominal hysterectomy surgical site infection rate is shown between two different time periods.

example 3a

Example 3b – The trend line of multiple facilities’ abdominal hysterectomy surgical site infection rates is shown between two different time periods.

example 3b

Example 4 – A bar chart of multiple facilities’ adult ICU central line associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) standardized infection ratio (SIR) is shown for a single time period.

example 4

Example 5 – A confidence interval plot of multiple facilities’ adult ICU central line associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) standardized infection ratio (SIR) is shown for a single time period.

example 5

Example 6 – A current map of individual hospital profiles (facility information) in the coastal region of South Carolina is shown.
